Classics for All funds state schools throughout the UK, both primary and secondary. Since its first grant awards in 2011, the charity has awarded a total of more than £450,000 in grants, reaching nearly 300 schools and benefiting more than 6,000 pupils.
We award startup funding to schools, who commit to continuing to teach classics after the two to three years of the CfA grant. Our funds are raised via donations from a wide range of donors, which are deployed as grants to schools or classics hubs (see regional classics hubs). Classics for All runs an annual ‘open application’ round, but we also respond swiftly to meet particular needs by making strategic grant awards throughout the year.
With a professional grants team and a grant advisory panel drawn from our board of trustees and other experts, we assess applications and monitor grant beneficiaries carefully. Although we are still in our early years, we are beginning to be able to measure the difference our grants make. See our case studies to find out more.
