Work for CfA

Head of Philanthropy

Classics for All

Competitive salary, commensurate with experience

Classics For All (CfA) raises funds to enable state school, many in areas of high deprivation, to study Classics. CfA provides funding to both primary and secondary schools, often to launch classics for the first time. Teachers who introduce classics consistently report results of ‘improved literacy levels and enthusiasm for languages, culture and history’.

Classics for All is seeking an outstanding fundraiser for the newly created position of Head of Philanthropy. The post-holder will lead the charge to develop and grow the portfolio of donors giving over £1,000.

This is an exciting time to be joining Classics for All. It has funded 700 schools to teach Classics, reaching 40,000 pupils, and wants to reach 1,000 schools within the next two years. Demand from schools to offer Classical subjects has increased fourfold since CfA began.

The new role of Head of Philanthropy is part of a strategic growth plan to keep up with school demand and will lead on all major donor activity from individual donors and family charitable trusts. Responsibilities will include carrying out all business development activity including stewardship, research, cultivation and solicitation.

This role will require someone with exceptional interpersonal skills, extensive experience of major donor fundraising and an interest and empathy for teaching in state schools.

This is a unique chance to join a young and fast-growing charity and an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional fundraiser to make their mark on the charity’s run-up to its 10th anniversary in 2020.
