Help us to continue championing classics in state schools

We invite you to consider leaving a gift in your will to Classics for All. Gifts in wills can help us plan for the future, develop our regional networks and improve educational opportunities for young people.

To find out more about this generous way of supporting us, please download our legacy booklet or contact Sacha, our Senior Philanthropy Manager, to arrange a confidential conversation or request a printed version: E:  T: 07854 634 861

‘A legacy pledge from you today will sow the seeds for the future and allow even more state school pupils to discover and learn from the ancient world’s languages, history and culture.’
Jules Mann, Executive Director, Classics for All

Gifts in wills are free from Inheritance Tax and there are three types of gift that you can leave: a residual gift (the remainder or a percentage of your estate), a pecuniary gift (cash) or a specific legacy (an item of personal property, such as jewellery or shares). Pledging a legacy gift for the future will enable your commitment to our work for the long-term and we are grateful for legacies of all sizes.

We always recommend using a solicitor to create or amend a will. If you already have one, you can complete a simple codicil form to update it. You can download our form here or contact Sacha to request a paper version: E:   T: 07854 634 861

Marcus Aurelius Circle

To thank our donors within their lifetime, we invite everyone who has pledged a gift in their will to join the Marcus Aurelius Circle.

We are delighted to honour our existing members: Nicholas Barber CBE, Matthew Lindsey-Clark, Tessa Smith and those who choose to remain anonymous.

Gifts in memory

Gifts in memory can be a wonderful way to honour a friend or loved one by providing a gift to Classics for All. If you would like to make a gift in memory, please donate online and use the person’s name as a reference, or click here for other ways to donate. Your gift will be gratefully acknowledged.

Classics for All have received several donations in memory of Professor Donald Russell FBA, Emeritus Professor of classical literature at St John’s Oxford, who sadly died on 9 February 2020 at the age of 99. Professor Russell was a dedicated tutor and a leading figure in classical scholarship, specialising in Greek imperial literature, Latin imperial prose, and ancient literary criticism. Professor Russell’s funeral took place on Monday 9 March 2020 in the Chapel of St John’s College. It was kindly requested that donations in his memory be made to Classics for All, for which we are humbled and grateful.
