This grant of will extend work begun in Liverpool in 2011 and 2012, in which postgraduate students from the University of Liverpool’s School of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology provided Latin tuition in after-school clubs in three state schools. This designated grant was made as a result of a donation to Classics for All by the Rushworth Family Charitable Trust for work in Liverpool. It will be used to draw additional schools into the scheme and to build up teachers’ capacity within these schools.


2012, £16,450

The grant will fund graduate teaching fellowships to develop Classics in schools. Outreach Latin and Greek classes in Mersyside schools.


2017, £9,000

The grant will support a Greek Academy, bringing GCSE Ancient Greek to 35 students in Liverpool by 2019.
