Professor Liba Taub
Liba Taub is Professor Emerita (Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge), Director of Research at the Whipple Museum of the History of Science (University of Cambridge), and a Senior Research Fellow at the Deutsches Museum, Munich. Her main areas of interest are centred on early science and mathematics, the history of scientific instruments, and the preservation of material relating to scientific heritage. She has published widely on ancient Greek and Roman science, with a recent publication Ancient Greek and Roman Science: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2023). She has also edited The Cambridge Companion to Ancient Greek and Roman Science (2020) which provides a comprehensive overview of key themes in Greek and Roman science, medicine, mathematics and technology.
Dr Arthur Harris
Dr Arthur Harris is the Lloyd-Dan David Research Fellow at the Needham Research Institute and Darwin College, University of Cambridge. His areas of interest include ancient science, medicine and mathematics and he is currently working on a project on the comparative investigation of ancient Greek and Chinese medicine. A key publication includes his article 'New Diseases and Sectarian Debate in Hellenistic and Roman Medicine' published in Apeiron: A Journal for Ancient Philosophy and Science (2021).
Professor Laurence Totelin
Professor Laurence Totelin is Professor of Ancient History at Cardiff University. She is a historian of Greek and Roman science, medicine and technology and her main areas of interest are the history of ancient pharmacology, botany and gynaecology. She has published extensively on these areas and has also been an editor for recent publications including Bodily Fluids in Antiquity (Routledge, 2021) and A Cultural History of Medicine in Antiquity (Bloomsbury, 2021).
Professor Serafina Cuomo
Professor Serafina Cuomo is Professor in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Durham. Her areas of focus include the history of science, ancient mathematics and technology, and in particular, their cultural, social, political and economic contexts. Recent publications include book chapter Thinking in Cases in Ancient Greek mathematics in M. Asper (Ed.), Case-Studies in Ancient Science (2020) and journal article Rewarding Science in Ancient Greece and Rome published in Nuncius: Journal of the Material and Visual History of Science (2019).
