The autumn edition of Classics Matters explores how an education rooted in Classics can shape creativity, careers and the sharpened ability to better make sense of our world through the interdisciplinary foundation it provides.

On pages 10 and 11, pupils' creativity is on full display as they interpret Ovid’s Metamorphoses. This imaginative engagement continues on page 14, where a teacher from Merseyside meditates on how Classics’ interdisciplinarity builds practical and creative skills, and page 4, where our Scotland network coordinator shows how the ancient world enriches just about any subject. Pages 6-8 describe our 2026 Impact Awards and the extraordinary ways that state schools and teachers across the entire UK have embedded Classics in their teaching, helping to bridge the gap in access to these subjects. Our upcoming events are on page 13, while reflections from and on our outgoing and incoming Chairs frame the issue.

We hope you enjoy learning about the diverse, expansive ways that Classics is impacting future generations of students across the country.
