Write for our student blog

Passionate about classics? Think you could be the next Homer? Write for The Rostra, our student blog for young classicists aged 16 to 25.

Inspired by the 'rostra' of ancient Rome, where orators addressed the Forum, our blog offers a unique platform for showcasing your writing.

This year, we have a fresh approach to submissions. We'll be calling for themed submissions to keep you inspired year-round!

Submissions for our first theme, 'Your favourite classical figure,' are officially CLOSED! Thank you to everyone who submitted an abstract. We're currently reviewing submissions and we'll be in touch soon with the outcomes.

We're excited to announce that submissions are officially OPEN for our first theme: ‘Your favourite classical figure!’

Whether you're a wordsmith or an academic, we welcome your creativity in various forms:

  • Creative: poems, stories, alternate histories
  • Academic: debates, discussions, analyses, translations
  • Reviews: travel diaries, book/film/tv reviews
  • And anything else you'd love to write!

The deadline for submission of a 200-word abstract is Sunday, 12 November 2023. Please read our blog submission guidelines for more information.

If you have any questions or need further guidance on submitting your work, don't hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected]. We look forward to reading your work!
